Names
Ceratonia oreothauma Hillc., Lewis & Verdc. subsp. somalensis [family LEGUMINOSAE-CAESALPINIOIDEAE], in Kew Bull. 35: 265 (1980);. type: S2, “Tabah” gap (NW of “Erigavo”), Glover & Gilliland 1116 (K holo., BM EA K iso.).
Information
Leaflets glabrous above, sparsely appressed puberulous beneath when young, soon glabrescent.
Range
N1–3 not known elsewhere.
Altitude range
1500–2000 m.
Distribution
SOMALIA Wood 5/73/24; Thulin 4262, 4346, 4365.
Notes
Asebbi, xiis (Som.). Subsp. oreothauma is known from Oman (Jebel Aswad) and S Yemen. The difference in leaf-shape between the two subspecies given by Hillcoat, Lewis & Verdcourt does not hold true in the material now available. Still, there is a slight difference in the indumentum of the leaflets (puberulous on both surfaces in subsp. oreothauma).
