Names
EMELIANTHE panganensis Wiens & Polh. subsp. commiphorae [family LORANTHACEAE]
Information
Leaves developed after flowering; petiole 3–8 mm long; blade bright green, broadly elliptic, 1.5–4.5 × 1–3.5 cm, crinkly. Calyx 1–1.5 mm long, shorter than receptacle. Corolla-lobes narrow above expanded base, the filaments inserted 6–10 mm from base; mature corolla-buds swollen only below the vents, the lips green or yellow-green like outside of the lobes.
Range
N1–3; C2; S1–3
Altitude range
100–1100 m.
Distribution
SOMALIA Bally 9551; Beckett & White 1770; Gillett 4663.
Distribution (external)
Ethiopia
Kenya
Uganda
Tanzania
Notes
Subsp. panganensis may be found. It is recorded from the coastal regions of Kenya and Tanzania inland to northern Kenya, but is less conspicuous than subsp. commiphorae. It usually produces its larger less crinkly leaves at flowering time, the calyx is 2–2.5 mm long, longer than the receptacle, and the corolla-lobes are expanded at the very base and again about 5–6 mm above where the filaments are inserted, the mature corolla-buds thus with swellings above and below the vents. It is generally found on Adansonia, Sterculia and Euphorbia.
