Annual herb or short-lived perennial, 8–30 cm tall, erect, at length slightly spreading, stem 1–3 mm diameter at base, branching, the branches themselves branching, at length forming a rounded mass; stems densely covered with subarachnoid stellate hairs. Leaf-blade ovate, 2.5–4≈1–1.4(–1.7) cm, apex acute, margin serrate, base rounded, with 7–10 coarse teeth, nerves ± 3 on each side of the midrib, upper surface with scattered simple, erect hairs, lower surface with sessile glandular hairs and stellate hairs; petiole 1.5–3(–4.5) cm long; stipules patent, lanceolate, 2.5–5.5≈0.3–1.2 mm. Inflorescence with flowers single in the upper axils; peduncle 19–28 mm long, ebracteate, with a few scattered simple hairs; pedicel thicker than and inconspicuously articulated with the peduncle, 2–3 mm long. Flowers erect, green or yellow-green, 2.5–4 mm wide. Calyx campanulate, 3.5–4≈2.5 mm, lobed for 1/2, lobes narrowly triangular, erect, 2–2.5≈0.8–1.2 mm, translucent, with strigose simple hairs with red swollen bases arising from the nerves. Petals oblanceolate-ligulate to spathulate, 3.5–3.9≈0.7–1 mm, slightly involute in the lower 1/3, glabrous. Stamens with filaments obovate, 1.3–1.8≈0.6–0.8 mm, glabrous; anthers 1.2–1.8≈0.2–0.3 mm. Ovary shortly ellipsoid-truncate, 2.2–2.5≈1.6–1.8 mm, apex with 5 lobes, stipe 0.1 mm long; styles 1.2 mm long. Fruit 4–5≈5–6 mm, truncate, awns erect, 0.5–1.2 mm long, densely covered in stellate hairs; seeds reniform, 1.2≈1≈1 mm, rugose, densely papillate, papillae pale brown.
