Description
[Letter marked 'Private'] On the occasion of the marriage of the Princess Royal [Princess Victoria to Prince Frederick William of Prussia], Hall asks Hooker to provide a good supply of evergreens consisting of: Laurustinus with flowers; Holly with berries; Common or Portugal Laurel; some mistletoe and Ivy. The evergreens will be required in garlands to be affixed against the walls or to hang from pillar to pillar. Hall asks if Hooker might be able to spare a good quantity of cut branches that could be made up at the Palace [St James's]. Hall requires about one cart load to try the effect on Thursday 14 [Jan] or Friday the 15 [Jan]. They will decide how much they want depending on the effect produced: hopefully three or four cart loads. What Hooker cannot supply, Hall will get from Windsor. Hall asks Hooker to consider this letter 'Private' and concludes with good wishes of the season. Pages 1 and 4 of 4.
