Information
Branches smooth, grey, the youngest sometimes purple-brown. Petiole 5–15 mm. long; lamina fresh green to glaucous, thinly fleshy, ovate to broadly elliptic or obovate, 1.5–7 cm. long, 1–6 cm. wide, ± wavy at the margins, with 4–6 pairs of lateral nerves. Peduncle 0–3 mm. long; pedicels 1–4 mm. long; bract with a short ovate-triangular limb, 2–2.5 mm. long, ± ciliolate. Receptacle campanulate, 2–3 mm. long; calyx 0.8–2.5 mm. long. Corolla mostly pinkish red, but pale or greenish at the base, green to yellow around vents (through which red filaments are visible when buds are ripe), 6–8(–9) cm. long; tube 2–4 cm. long; lobes linear-spathulate, recurving about the middle. Stamen-filaments inserted 5–10 mm. long above the base of corolla-lobes, red; anthers 13–18 mm. long. Berry purple, obovoid, 8–12 mm. long; seed brilliant red.
