Information
Stems up to 60 mm long, 15–20 mm thick, erect or procumbent, forming small clumps, the teeth pointed, 3–6 mm long. Flowers solitary or up to 6 together; pedicels 8–25 mm long. Corolla 15–32 mm wide, light to dark purplish brown, near centre abruptly thickened into an inward-pointing annulus leaving a small flat cavity at the base of the tube and with a very constricted mouth close to the gynostegium; lobes broadly triangular with reflexed tips and ciliate margins. Corona dark purple, 2–4 mm high and 3.5–4.5 mm wide, protruding from the corolla-tube; outer lobes forming a pentagonal disk; inner lobes incumbent over the anthers then connivent and largely exceeding the staminal column, with a dorsal reflexed projection at the base.

Notes
There is a considerable variation in flower size, the typical form from “Gaan Libah” having flowers 15–18 mm wide, whereas plants from north-east of “Burao” have flowers up to 32 mm across.
