Names

Information
Shrubs or lianes, with tendrils formed from hooked inflorescence branches; latex white. Leaves opposite. Flowers sweetly scented, in cymes grouped into long terminal panicles with sensitive branches. Corolla salver-shaped; lobes overlapping to the left in bud, fringed with hairs. Corona absent. Stamens inserted in the lower half of the corolla-tube; anthers keeled on the back. Ovary hairy, 1-celled; ovules numerous. Style with cylindrical to subglobose head. Fruit a densely pubescent berry.
Range
Genus of seven species, all in Africa and one also in Madagascar.
Notes
The generic name has sometimes been corrected to Ancylobotrys, but the original spelling is used here.
