Information
Erect succulent glaucous shrub or subshrub to 3 m high, from a tuberuous root, glabrous. Leaves alternate; blade to 10 x 11 cm, palmately 3–5-lobed, cordate at the base, middle lobe obovate-oblate, longer than the laterals, entire or coarsely dentate, tips of lobes rounded with gland-tipped mucro; petiole 4.5–13 cm long. Stipules 2–4 mm long, simple, gland-tipped, becoming hardened and up to 1 cm long. Inflorescence diffuse, up to 20 cm long. Male flowers: calyx c. 2.5 mm long with obtuse lobes; petals c. 4 mm long. Female flowers with 8 apparently functional stamens; ovary glabrous, winged. Fruit broadly obpyramidal, up to c. 30 x 35 mm, winged. Ripe seeds not seen.
