A much-branched evergreen tree up to 20 m high.Bark grey or brownish, deeply fissured.Twigs with the leaf scar margins not or scarcely raised, fulvous- or ferrugineous-pubescent at first, later glabrescent, greyish.Leaves opposite or subopposite; petioles 4–7 cm long; leaflets (3)5–7(8), subequal, 4–10 × 1.5–4 cm, elliptic or elliptic-oblanceolate, shortly acuminate at the apex, attenuate or cuneate at the base, firmly chartaceous, evenly pubescent along the midrib above and beneath, and elsewhere sparingly pubescent or subglabrous at first, later glabrescent above, shiny and dark green above, duller and paler beneath; midrib canaliculate above, prominent beneath, lateral nerves in 10–20 pairs, brochidodromous well within the margin, slightly prominent above and beneath; petiolules 1–5 mm long.Male inflorescences: peduncles 1–1.5 cm long; bracts minute; flowers subcapitate.Female inflorescences: peduncles 5 mm long, extending to 1 cm long in fruit, 1(3)-flowered; bracts 3–6 mm long, oblong, fulvous- or ferrugineous-pubescent.Male flowers: pedicels up to 2 mm long; sepals 6–7, 1 mm long, oblong, obtuse, ferrugineous-pubescent without, glabrous within except towards the apex; stamens 5–7, 3–4 mm long, anthers c. 1 mm long; disk 1 × 1 mm, irregularly lobulate, conical at the apex; pistillode minute or absent.Female flowers: pedicels 5 mm long, extending to c. 1 cm in fruit; sepals 5–7 × 1.5–3 mm, oblong, foliaceous, obtuse, pubescent; disk 3 mm in diameter; ovary 2–3-locular, 4–5 × 3–4 mm, ovoid, fulvous-sericeous; styles 2–3, 2 mm long, densely white-pubescent, stigmas velvety, brownish-grey.Fruit 1.5–2 × 1.5–1.8 cm, subglobose, 2–3-lineate, glabrescent, yellow when ripe.Seeds 1–1.3 × 0.8–1 × 0.3 cm, flattened-ovoid, brownish or blackish.
