Description

Britton has returned from the West Indies and has received Prain's memorandum of 23 Mar and a parcel containing ten drawings with fragments of species of Malpighiaceae. He is mailing a draft to Miss [Matilda] Smith. He had a successful trip to Jamaica and Cuba and collected over 10,000 specimens, some of which he will send to RBG Kew. There is a Panama sedge, Torulinium hayesii, which Britton would like for his series of Hayes plants; he has not yet found one. He asks if Smith would make a drawing of it and if Kew could spare a spikelet. Annotation by 'O.S.' [Otto Stapf] states that a drawing and fragment will be sent. Annotated as Miss Smith's bill sent.
