Mitchell sends many thanks for his correspondents' recollection of him. The letter his correspondent forwarded is from a shopkeeper in the town with no more facilities, he fancies, than others of his class, for procuring orchids. The shopkeeper and others have been excited by hearing that Dr Archer, one of their 'Military medicos' and a great naturalist, has obtained a considerable sum for some rather rare orchids he found while visiting the northern district. Mitchell has been as yet unable to procure anything worth sending but will try to do something ere long. His wife and he have often discussed the ways and means of procuring something worth sending. She is very unwell, quite lame with sciatica or something of the sort, but was very pleased to get his correspondents' letter about the ferns. The coffee arrived all right. He fears their cultivators are hand to mouth and undependable for reports. He will try and send a little coffee to some of the great coffee cultivators at Cobán.
