Description
Anderson has got along well so far. He had considerable trouble getting the Cinchona off from London Bridge Station, but a most excellent passage across the Channel and he was the only person sick. The night was cold and chilly but he got the [Cinchona] box taken into a cabin. At the Custom House in Paris there was nothing said beyond the usual baggage questions and the box is now safely in his sitting room. Sir R. Martin's son has been Anderson's fellow passenger from London and they are now together at the Hotel. Anderson thinks him awfully stupid, but it is better to be with him than quite alone. They go on together to Calcutta [Kolkata]. Anderson saw Decaisne this morning and they are to work on their Acanthads tomorrow. Anderson thinks he will feel better after a rest but the shaking of a railway carriage does not tend to improve herpetic derangements. Page 1 of 3.
