Description
Low has received Hooker's letter. He was sorry Hooker could not come to Clapton but is glad to hear that his health is benefiting from a change of air. Clapton is suffering in the continuing drought and heat and Low fears many of the plants will not survive. Low has had an interesting letter from Mr [Charles Samuel Pollock] Parish. He regrets that the fruits of Parish's labours and hardship have been lost, but the cause was beyond control. Low has paid the bill Mr Parish has drawn and only wishes he could offer the further sum that would have been available if the plants had been received. Low has written to Parish suggesting that he send cases of just those orchids collected in the vicinity of Moulmein [Mawlamyaing, Burma]. Low is particularly anxious to get a supply of Aerides fieldingii and believes it abounds near Moulmein, although Parish is not familiar with it. Low has made arrangements with his agents in Calcutta [Kolkata] to send any future packages from Parish. Pages 1 an 4 of 4.
