Description

Kalanchoe thyrsiflora Harv. & Sond. original illustration from Curtis's Botanical Magazine. Watercolour and pencil on paper. This species is a native of the eastern districts of the Cape Colony, where it was found first by Ecklon and Zeyher. There are also specimens in the Kew Herbarium from the Kei and Vaal rivers, from Basutoland, and from Inanda in Natal. It was introduced from the Cape of Good into the gardens of Commendatore Hanbury, La Mortola, by whom seeds were distributed to various botanical gardens in 1891.
