Description
[The handwriting in this letter is very difficult to decipher but the description is as follows] Hutton acknowledges receipt of Hookers report of 1864. He writes that his friend Ralph Barton Lyon[?] is introducing the olive to the Cape. He mentions that the wild olive flourishes there, and he sends a packet of seeds of the Podocarpus, and others from the undergrowth. Hutton writes that he has received the third volume of flora from Dr. Harvey. Hutton discusses a specimen that he now believes to be Gardenia rothmannia. He writes that he has not had the opportunity of sending any blubs or ferns, but he hopes to send some of the plants Hooker has mentioned. Page 1 of 2
