Description
Talbot writes that she received Stapf’s last letter when she was close to the Kamerun border. She mentions that a number of letters have gone missing and expresses sympathy that Stapf’s assistant had fallen ill. She had heard that Sir Harvey Johnston had sent her a letter that never reached its destination. Talbot writes that Stapf should have received boxes 1 – 13, with 14 being sent shortly. The specimens are mainly from the Oban region. The government has offered to pay for the publishing of the Botany of the Oban District. She agrees with Stapf that the technical descriptions should be published as soon as possible in either the Linnaean Society Journal or the Kew Bulletin. Talbot mentions Boyd Alexander’s murder, and Sir Walter Egerton’s opinions on their botanic drawings. She has drawn a flower and described its fruit, and states that a specimen is in one of the boxes. Pages 6 and 7 of 12
