Description
Morris describes his journey from Santa Cruz to Orotava including the plants he saw along the way. These include the Canary Date Palm which Hermann Wildpret believes is a distinct variety called Phoenix jubae, Eucalyptus globules, Schinus molle, Acacia mollissima, Anthocercis picta, Ficus lucida or F. nitida and Wigandia caracasana. George Victor Perez has been of help to him and Morris had visited the Botanic Gardens a few times they have Grayia sutherlandii, Rogiera cordata, Rhus rufa, Fuchsia corymbiflora, Passiflora cardinalis and Combretum coccineum. He belives that with Wildpret’s advancing age and the arrival of a new Director with experience from the Phillipines there will soon be a change, with the possibility of an experimental garden growing fruit and vegetables. The spice Sonchus is blooming beautifully and Morris descusses his plans to return to England. Pages 1 and 4 of 7.
