Description
A note about 'Strophanthus by Mr. St. Vincent Erskine'. Wood differentiates Strophanthus kombe included in Christy's 'New Commercial Plants & Drugs No.10' from the species used by the natives in Inhambane to make poisoned arrows. They call it 'Umtsuli' and so Wood suggests the name S.umtsuli for the species. He gives further details about the differences between the flowers of these plants and a [third?] smaller sort which he likens to the Honeysuckle. He goes on to distinguish S.umtsuli from S. Erskini, and says he encloses a copy of Mr. Erskine's original drawing made by Mr. Sanderson. Page 1 and 2 of 2.
