Description
[The handwriting in this letter is very difficult to decipher but the description is as follows]. Sir Henry encloses a new species of Hydnora from Damaraland. Mr. Palgrave gave it to Sir Henry in this dried state and a photograph of where it was gathered, which he also encloses. Palgrave told Sir Henry that it was a soft and flesh plant, like a fungus. He apologises for the bad condition of the specimen but sends it ‘…for what it is worth.’ He also encloses a Stapelia that has been puzzling him. He is unsure if it is a Stapelia as it ‘bore horns’. He thinks it may be a Ceropegia. He has other Stapelia novelties that he will be bringing home with him plus a pretty terrestrial orchid from the Transvaal. Contains a note on the top of page 1. Pages 1 and 4 of 4.
