Description
Letter acknowledging receipt of letters from William Botting Hemsley, '...drawings of a leaf and seed of a tree required...seeds of Imbricaria.' Seeds that Thomasset sent to Dr. Schimper came from a tree on Mount Sebert, from which Tomasset will procure a flower to send to Kew. He notes that the specimen number 124 sent to Kew previously was from a tree believed to be the common 'Bois Mozambique'. He is sending flowers in alcohol of 'Bois marais a petites feuilles', recording that he has only ever found female flowers. The tree is rare, having been used for timber. Thomasset forwards also specimens collected on the Aldabra islands by Mr. Harold Baty, who's '...firm, together with the Hon. Walter Rothschild sent the Aldabra group, Cosmoledo, Assumption and Astove - The "champignon" is the dead coral above the water which forms the island, some of them have been employed with regard to the interior.'
