Description
Hart thanks his correspondent for instructions relating to collections. Hart has just returned for man expedition to the Juinenee[?] Country, a district which is unknown and has slightly different flora from Sierra Leone. Hart has sent the specimens he collected to his brother, who will in turn forward them on to Kew for identification. Hart will be happy to obtain photographs of trees or flowers if they are of any value. He reports that Kola may compete with coffee and cocoa in Europe, and mentions that the bitter variety is indigenous to Sierra Leone but rare. Hart asks if the Corkwood tree of Sierra Leone, which is used for making rafts, is known elsewhere. The Osmunda regalis grows in abundance in some parts of the River Rokell and Hart remarks that since he has found it, others have also. Pineapples are also found everywhere but mangoes are rare. Pages 1 and 4 of 7.
