Description
Playfair writes that if he is chosen arbitrator between Hooker and Ayrton, Playfair would ask if the letters in question were adressed by Hooker to Ayrton in Hooker's own handwritting. Playfair believes that the answer to this question will resolve the problem between the two men. Playfair informs Hooker that he paid a visit to the Jardin D'Essai to purchase some seeds but was told that none were obtained last season due to the exceptional weather. Playfair then describes to Hooker how they have had very little rain in Algiers for that time of year and a drought looks imminent. Playfair mentions his friends Lady Dosmen and Mr. Booth[?]. Playfair is sending Hooker some Glaucus and Alpha seeds and thanks Hooker because the palm seeds have arrived. Pages 1 and 4 of 4.
