Tree 50-60 cm DBH. Branched at c 5 m. Leaf flush red. Mostly 5-6 pairs leaflets, sometimes down to 2 pairs. Outer bark very scaly, with some large scales, slightly yellowish grey below scales; parts with concentric mussel shell markings where scales have fallen. Slash caramel brown to pale red in parts, fibrous; petals yellow, stamens purple. Pods c. 25 cm. long. Slightly inflated (?buoyant) when ripe. Young pods with dense short hairs and single raised line; valves spiralling into a 2 cm diam. tube when dehisced. More photos were taken of the same tree on 6 April when it was still flowering and fruiting. (G. preussii or G. bilineatum?. Stipules present on some shoots have two parts (one kidney shaped and one lanceolate) not pressed close to twig. The young rachis is slightly hairy and the leaflets up to 7 pairs, usually 4-6 pairs, suggesting G. bilineatum, & it is on a river bank. However pods, tomentose at first are glabrescent; with only one main raised ridge suggesting G. preussii.) Bank of river, in floodable area, many rocks and boulders, soil generally sandy.
