Notes
This isotype and the abundant topotype material of typical Potamogeton strictifolius A. Benn. do not appear to differ in any significant way from what has generally been passing as var. rutiloides Fernald; the degree of acuteness demonstrated by these leaf tips appears entirely characteristic of var. rutiloides, which, therefore, I do not believe merits recognition; on the other hand, much of what has been passing as var. strictifolius (cf. Fassett 28084 in Herb. ILL!) appears to be only Potamogeton friesii Rupr. - E. G. Voss, 1960. Determined by R. Winston and A. G. Jones (1982) as probable syntype of Potamogeton pusillus L. var. pseudo-rutilus A. Benn.
