Notes
HOLOTYPE of Veronica jovellanoides. Growing in secondary regrowth alluvial forest on damp, moderately steep clay bank leading into a small tributary stream of the main Ararimu River. Three discrete patches present, covering an area of 2 x 3 m. Plants firmly rooted in substratum, trailing through leaf litter of Kunzea aff. ericoides (a), rooting freely at nodes. Flowers sparsely produced but conspicuous, white with dark magenta nectar guides. Associated species of subcanopy: Cyathea dealbata (sparse), Geniostoma ligustrifolium var. ligustrifolium (sparse); Forest Floor - sparse Uncinia banksii, U. uncinata, Nertera dichondrifolia, Clematis paniculata (seedlings) and Parsonsia heterophylla (seedlings), abundant Bazzania adnexa, Lembidium nutans, Monoclea forsteri, Leiomitria lanata, Pyrrhobryum bifarium, Pendulothecium auriculatum, Trichocolea mollisima, Heteroscyphus spp., Sticta lacera, Pseudocyphellaria dissimilis, and P. multifida.
