Biography
British, the daughter of Sir George Arthur who was governor of Bombay (1842-1846). She later married Sir Henry Bartle Edward Frere who was a member of the Viceroy's Council in Calcutta (1859-1862) and later governor of Bombay (1862-1867). Lady Frere was awarded the Order of the Crown of India (1878). Material of algae and lichens collected by lady Frere and donated to K was subsequently transferred to BM (c. 1961) under the Morton Agreement.
