Biography
Swiss cryptogamist who published an enumeration of the European lichens. He produced extensive sets of exsiccatae, which were subscribed to by BM and material received in 1874 and 1877. Some specimens were received with the extensive herbarium of R.J. Shuttleworth, purchased in 1877. Additional lichen exsiccatae at K were probably transferred to BM after 1960 under the terms of the Morton Agreement.
