Biography
Scottish gardener and botanist from Easter Warriston, Edinburgh who worked in London from 1793 as a gardener to James Vere at Kensington Gore. He was later appointed Curator of the Chelsea Physic Garden (1815-1846) and continued his interest in succulents gained working for Vere, particularly the genus Stapelia. Not to be confused with the earlier collector William Anderson (1750-1778) who was a surgeon on Cook's voyages.
