Biography
American plant pathologist and mycologist in Nebraska. George G. Hedgcock attended the University of Nebraska where he received a BSc in 1899 and an MA in 1901. Moving to Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, he undertook doctoral studies with Missouri Botanical Garden and was awarded a PhD in 1906 for his thesis "Studies upon some chromogenic fungi which discolour wood". Hedgcock worked as a pathologist for the Bureau of Plant Industry of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture and was interested in the diseases of conifers, particularly rusts of the genera Comandra Nutt. and Cronartium Fr. And Peridermium (Link) J.C. Schmidt & Kunze.
