Biography
It is possible that A.C. Chatterjee refers to the Indian diplomat and government official Atul Chandra Chatterjee. Born in Kolkata, Chatterjee graduated from King's College, Cambridge University in 1896 before entering the Indian Civil Service. He served in the government of the United Provinces from 1897-1919, at first as a collector, then as Registrar of Co-operative Societies and latterly as Chief Secretary to the Government of the United Provinces. He was then Industries Secretary to the Government of India and Industries and Labour Member of the Viceroy's Executive Council before moving to London as High Commissioner for India (1925-1931). He was given many honours in his later life.
