Biography
Johann Szovits was a Hungarian pharmacist who worked in Odessa and made plant collecting expeditions in the Caucasus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran. He died in Kutaissi, Georgia, following lengthy travels in Armenia and Iran. Many plants were named in his honour, for example Asphodelus szovitsii K.Koch, Carex szovitsii V.I.Krecz. and Muscari szotitsianum Rupr. Ex. Boiss.
