Biography
American botanist in Palestine. John Edward Dinsmore worked as director of the American Colony Herbarium in Jerusalem and as honorary curator of the Post Herbarium in Beirut, Lebanon. He was responsible for undertaking further studies and collections in order to edit George E. Post's The Flora of Syria, Palestine and Sinai and he published the second edition in 1932-1933. Dinsmore also conducted a special study into Iris L. in the Near East, publishing The genus Iris in Syria and Palestine (1933).
