Biography
Viktor Reverdatto was a Russian botanist who served as head of the biology department at the University of Tomsk. He made significant collections of Siberian plants and specialised in the study of medicinal plants.
Reverdatto studied chemical engineering as an undergraduate, but soon changed his focus to botany. He began his career at Tomsk as an assistant in the botany department and after five years was made professor and director of the geobotany department.
Reverdatto made 16 botanical collecting expeditions in Krasnodar, resulting in his Flora of Krasnodar. He also studied the Siberian flora and discovered a number of fossil species. From 1944-1952 Reverdatto was director of the Biological Institute of Western Siberia.
