Biography
English zoologist from Liverpool who trained at Marlborough College and was subsequently employed as an assistant to H.O. Forbes in Liverpool Museum (1897-1900). He later visitied Malaysia with T.N. Annandale (1900) and was appointed Director of the Federated Malay States Museums in Kuala Lumpur (1903-1926) and Inspector of Fisheries (1906-). He collected extensively in Malaysia, Sumatra, Indonesia and Thailand and was the first to ascend Gunong Tahan in Pahang, Malaysia where he found many novelties within the high altitude flora. Robinson eventually returned to England and died at Oxford. His original phanerogams were mainly sent to K but a large number of specimens are at BM, including types and cryptogams that were transferred from K under the terms of the Morton Agreement.
