Biography
Sometimes referred to as Mrs Joseph Clemens or Mary Knapp Clemens, Mary Strong Clemens was a missionary who accompanied her husband, Rev. J. Clemens (1862-1936) to the Phillipines, New Guinea and Far East. Born Mary Knapp Strong in New York, U.S.A., she settled in Brisbane and continued collecting until a few years before her death on 13 April 1968. Original collections from expeditions to Sabah were deposited at BM.
