Biography
South African artist and the wife of Ernest Edward Galpin. She painted flowers for Galpin to send to Kew and they later married (1892) and explored extensively together in southern Africa. M.E. Galpin also made botanical collections on her own for her husband's herbarium but her name does not appear on joint collections. She is commemorated by Mesembryanthemum galpiniae L. Bolus (= Lampranthus galpiniae L. Bolus).
