Biography
Danish zoologist from Harløse ved Hillerød who was appoointed Head Curator of the Department of Invertebrates at the Carlserg Institute in Copenhagen. He travelled widely (1913-1916) on the government ships Hinemoa and Amokura to the Pacific region, including collecting in Japan, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Cental America, He was also leader of the Danish Expedition to the Kai Islands (1922). He founded the Danmarks Fauna and was a specialist in echinoderm taxonomy. Many taxa of animals are named after him.
