Biography
French explorer and naturalist Adolphe Delessert made a five-year journey in India and Southeast Asia with George Perottet. During their travels, which began in 1834, Delessert made botanical and zoological collections, among which were a number of new species. Delessert, a nephew of the philanthropist and natural history collector Benjamin Delessert, published and account of the journey as Souvenirs d'un Voyage dans l'Inde exécuté de 1834 à 1839 (1843). He was chiefly interested in ornithology, but collected plants for his uncle.
