Biography
French lichenologist who established a private herbarium at Dunkerque. It was destroyed during the Second World War and most of his earlier material and types were lost, but duplicate material is at many herbaria including BM. He published new taxa based mainly on the collections of others. His herbarium included much of the original lichen material sent from Cuba, Mexico and New Mexico by G. Arsène. The lichen genus Lesdainea Harm. (= Trimmatothele Norman ex Zahlbr.) was named in his honur.
