Biography
British diplomat, son of General Henry Edward Fox (1755-1811), the former lieutenant-governor of Gibraltar, and nephew to Charles James Fox (1749-1806), the British statesman. Henry Stephen Fox was appointed the first minister plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Brazil, being based at Buenos Aires and latterly at Rio de Janeiro. He was subsequently appointed British Envoy to the United States (1835-1843). He died in Washington and was buried there in the congressional cemetery.
