Biography
Mauritian physician and naturalist, an active member of the Natural History Society of Mauritius. He corresponded with Darwin (1856-1857) on the taxonomic affinities of mollusca from the region and their distinction from those of Africa. As a botanist he mainly collected cryptogamic plants but he also made collections of mammals, fish, crustacea, and echinoderms. Robillard sold specimens latterly as a professional collector, particularly to the Museum of Melbourne.
