Biography
American botanist and administrator from Everett, Massachussetts who trained at Boston University (BS, 1981) and the University of Texas, Austin (PhD, 1988). Joined the Missouri Botanical Garden as a research associate (1984) and married L.J. Dorr (1985). Research botanist (1988-1992) at the New York Botanical Garden where she co-authored the eighth edition of Index Herbariorum. Research associate at the Department of Botany, Smithsonian Institution in Washington (1992) and later appointed Administrator of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) in 1993. Specialist in Sterculiaceae and related Malvales including contributing to the Flora of North America project.
