Biography
United States botanist who trained at Stanford University (BA), San José State University, California (MA) and the University of California, Berkeley (PhD 1974). He joined the Escuela Agrícola Panamericana el Zamorano in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 1983 as a lecturer in botany and genetics. He was appointed head of the Wilson Popenoe Library, head of the Department of Natural Resources and Biological Conservation (1994-1999) and later in the department of Socio-Economic Development and Environment. He is director of the Herbario Paul C. Standley (EAP) in Tegucigalpa. A specialist in Nyctaginaceae, Sapotaceae and trees of Honduras. Chrysanthellum pilzii Strother and Justicia pilzii T.F. Daniel are named after him.
