Biography
United States botanist. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Guy Nesom graduated from Davidson College in 1967 and obtained his MA and PhD degrees in systematic botany from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1970 and 1980 respectively. His teaching and research career began at Stratford College, and he was later tenured as associate professor at Memphis State College and was curator of the Lundell Herbarium at the University of Texas, Austin. His systematic studies mainly involved plants of the United States and Mexico, especially the genus Erigeron, resulting in more than 300 peer-reviewed scientific articles. He has also served as editor for the journals Sida and Phytologia.
