Biography
Elisée Reverchon was a French plant collector and explorer from Bollème, Vaucluse. Reverchon was the son of botanist and physician Paul Alphonse Reverchon (1833-1907). His brother, Julien Reverchon, also became a botanist. He spent his later years in Lyon.
Reverchon made significant botanical collections in south-east France (1867-1877), Corsica (1878-1880), Sardinia (1881-1882), Crete (1883) and Algeria (1896-1898). His work in Spain between 1887 and 1906 was his most important, however. Many plant species have been named reverchonii in his honour.
