Biography
German teacher and botanist from Wnkheim in Baden-Württemberg. He was a teacher in Karlsruhe (-1923) before becoming Curator of the natural history collection in Baden. He collected mainly in southern Europe and North Africa, specialised in the Cyperaceae and created a number of exsiccate series. Kneucker was also founder of the Allgemeinen Botanischen Zeitschrift. Plants named in his honour include Linaria kneuckeri Bornm. (= Kickxia kneuckeri (Bornm.) Täckh. & Boulos) from his Egyptian collections.
