Biography
Swiss botanist from Bern who collected mainly in Africa and the Cape Verde islands. The genus Brunnera was named in his honour and a number of species from the Cape Verde islands including Linaria brunneri (Benth.) (= Kickxia brunneri (Benth. Janch.) in the Scrophulariaceae and Phelypaea brunneri Webb in the Orobanchaceae.
