Biography
Canadian botanist usually referred to as Bernard Boivin, trained at Collège Sainte-Marie, the University of Montreal and Harvard Iniversity. He was employed by the National Museum of Canada before spending a period as as a Guggenheim Fellow at Harvard, and latterly worked for the Department of Agriculture in Ottawa (1948-1981) where his main collections are deposited (DAO). His botanical contributions included floristic and monographic works, including an account of the genus Thalictrum submitted for his PhD thesis. In later years he devoted himself to the biography and bibliography of Canadian botany, compiling information on botanists and the location of collections.
