Biography
Argentine botanist Nélida Bacigalupo is a native of San Isidro in the province of Buenos Aires. She graduated from the Superior Institute of National Professors, has taught biological science and worked at the Darwinian Botanical Institute. Bacigalupo is a leading expert in the family Rubeaceae in America and has studied with Dr E.L. Cabral describing many new species. In 1977 she was a principal researcher for the National Council for Research in Science and Technology (CONICET) and in 2007 was director of Research and Development for the National Institute of Farming Technology's project to create a Flora of the Province of Entre Ríos. She was awarded the prize 'Exemplary Woman of San Isidro 2007' in acknowledgement of her contributions to the field.
