Biography
Edouard Adjanohoun served as Professor of Botany in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from 1960-1970 and then as the first Rector of the University of Benin (at Cotonou and Abomey-Calavi) from 1970-1975. He continued to work as a professor at the University of Bordeaux III, from which position he retired in 1990.
Adjanohoun was born in Ouidah, Benin (then Dahomey), and gained his PhD in Ivory Coast. An active field worker, he collected plants in Benin in the 1960s. He is a specialist in tropical ecology and African medicinal plants, publishing ethnobotanical and floristic studies for several West African countries. After retiring he continued to work at the Botanical and Zoological Garden in Abomey-Calavi.
Adjanohoun was born in Ouidah, Benin (then Dahomey), and gained his PhD in Ivory Coast. An active field worker, he collected plants in Benin in the 1960s. He is a specialist in tropical ecology and African medicinal plants, publishing ethnobotanical and floristic studies for several West African countries.
